Is the South East of Ireland attractive for tech firms to invest in?

Well, is it? Keep reading to find out, this is an interesting read.

Try a small exercise before reading on and think of as many tech firms as you can in the South of Ireland.

The South East of Ireland is a good place for tech firms to invest in. It is a huge benefit to Ireland also as Tech firms in the South of Ireland are huge employers and bring a large amount of foreign direct investment (FDI). When it comes to FDI Ireland was the number one choice for US companies in 2021.

In my opinion, there are three main reasons why the South East of Ireland is so attractive for tech firms to invest in. Examples of some of the biggest tech firms that have invested in the South of Ireland are Apple and Dell.

1. Low Corporate Tax Rate –  Ireland has one of the lowest corporate tax rates in Europe at 12.5% which is very low compared to the UK which is 25%. This is a major draw for large multinational companies (MNC’s).

2. Skilled workforce – Ireland has a highly educated workforce. A report from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) in 2022 found that 62% of 25-34 year olds had a tertiary level qualification in 2021 compared to an EU average of 41%.

3. Strategic Gateway and Location – Ireland’s geographical location provides a unique gateway between the United States and Europe. This is even more important post-Brexit with English as our primary business language. There is also an airport in Cork with flights going to America and many other destinations on a regular basis.

To conclude this week’s blog I think you would agree with me that the South East of Ireland is very attractive for tech firms to invest in. Comment and let me know if you agree.
